Will There Be a High-Performance 2018 Toyota Camry?

The Toyota Camry is among the most popular vehicles on the road thanks to its reliability, features, and fun driving feel. Drivers can already choose between two engines. However, based on recent spy shots, there may be a high-performance version of the 2018 Toyota Camry set to arrive in Virginia in the future.

2018 Toyota Camry: The Spy Shots

The vehicle automotive experts spotted being tested was clearly some version of the Toyota Camry since this model is fairly recognizable to a well-trained eye. The redesigned model seen had a few surprise elements that may indicate it is a high-performance model. This model of the Camry has aggressive-appearing tires and quad exhaust tips. It is possible that the 2018 Toyota Camry in the photos is the result of some efforts by the Toyota Racing Development performance department typically known as TRD. Since the eighth generation of the Camry is going to debut at some point during 2017 in the form of a 2018 model, this seems like the perfect time to introduce a new Camry TRD. After all, Toyota representatives had previously said that TRD was going to be expanding its offerings.

Current Sporty Models of the Camry

At the moment, you can opt for a sportier version of the 2017 Toyota Camry, but only styling is affected, with very little impact on the performance. The Camry SE has a sport suspension, sport mesh front grille, paddle shifters, and 17-inch alloy wheels with a Graphite finish. The XSE offers similar features but 18-inch machined alloy wheels. The fact that the Camry SE is also available as a hybrid indicates that it is geared more toward giving the vehicle a sportier style and driving feel than actually enhancing its performance. That said, the SE and XSE are still great trims with plenty of fun and unique features that make them perfect for sports enthusiasts who have decided on a practical vehicle.
